I have decided to buy a new rifle and couldn't decied on a 338rum or a 338 lapua mag. The .338 is also able to be fitted with much heavier bullets than the .300 Win Mag rounds. For my purposes which is having a long range (which for me is less than 800 yards) caliber with a lot of smack down for hunting, the 338RUM is all I need. I congratulated the poster and mentioned that making a hit a mile with the .338 Lapua Magnum (.338 LM), which I’ve taken out to 1065 yards, is on my bucket list. The .338 is also able to be fitted with much heavier bullets than the .300 Win Mag rounds. I personally think this is too much of a good thing, but it may be up your alley.
